It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt

My mom brought up a big ball.  Bigger than any I have ever seen.  I was trying to play with it, but I wasn't sure about how to go about it.  So I watched my mom.  She sat on it, laid on it, and did all sorts of fascinating tricks.  I decided I wanted to try.  I would sit on my mom's lap while she was on the ball, but then we would lose the balance and slide one way or another.  At one point,  I was standing on her back like a surf board.  This new game was interesting, but also a little terrifying.  There were a couple close calls where the ball almost rolled right over me.  It would have been the end of me.  Charlie was more cautious than I.  He acted like he had experience with this type of thing before, but I was dumbfounded.  As the video was coming to a close, mom lost her balance and hit her head on the coffee table.  I laughed a little until I saw tears in her eyes.  She started laughing too.  We then kicked the big ball down the steps.  Sometimes exercising is dangerous!

Saying goodbye to a friend

If I wasn't so brown, I would be blue today.  Yesterday, a family member went over the rainbow bridge.  I didn't know Uncle Fuzz well, but my mom told me about him.  She said he had a dog named Buddy that he would drive around town.  He would take these daily trips and slow down to visit all of his friends on the route.  When mom said he was one of the good ones, I can easily see why.  She said Uncle Fuzz lived a great life full of friends and family, so to be so fortunate is nothing to be sad about.
Mom also said to put these people in our hearts and memories and to think about all past friends.  Aggie and Romi were my past friends.  I never knew Aggie well, but mom said he was the coolest dog even though he tinkled on her pillow.  I met Romi when she was old, so I can't say I played with her a lot or even enjoyed her that much.  She was like a zombie when I met her.  We called her Rombi the zombie.  It was kinda funny. My people were sad to see her go after having her around for 16 years!    She had a long life full of friends, family, and a master that loved her.  She actually taught my mom a lot about dogs, patience, and forgiveness.  Mom's nickname for her was growly Romi, and she even bit my mom a few times!  She might have trained my mom into being a good dog mom.  So thank you Rombi for the many years that you gave my family and for a glimpse of time I got to know you.  I hope you are chasing tennis balls and eating tomatoes with Aggie.

In the Dog House

I am not sure why people always say "You're in the dog house" and mean a bad thing.  I must admit that I love being in the dog house.  I live in a small home which is the perfect size for me.  I have two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living room, office area, dining room, and basement.  It really is charming in an old house sort of way.  My favorite place other than with my mom is the back yard.  It is full of interesting things such as bunnies, squirrels, and a plethora of snakes!  How did I hit the jackpot?

My mom is actually in the dog house in the bad way this week!  She has abandoned me to take care of other dogs!  How dare she!  I still get to see her, but she smells terrible.  I would like to think I am not the jealous type, but I don't always like when she hangs out with other people.  I for sure want her in my dog house.  Instead of being angry with her, I am going to dream of better days, hopefully when we are together!  I guess I will have to cuddle up with Charlie.  I must be getting desperate.

My mom said I am in the dog house.  I can't believe her.  I just had a series of unfortunate events.  I was trying to get very close to my mom while she was eating lunch.  I was hoping to snag a bite, but I lost my footing and fell into the side table.  Mom saved the lamp and me, but the diet Pepsi exploded everywhere.  She then threw me outside while she cleaned up.  I came back barreling in to make it up to her and my little paws were full of mud.  I might have gotten the mud all over her new pillows.  I hope that she has a short memory span like me and forgive me soon.

Chlo's weather report

2021 has really tested my ability to see into the future to predict the weather.  I will say that it is partially due to the amount of clouds and fog we have.  I know dogs are said to see only in black and white, but it has been grey all month.  Some days this year, the fog came out and then the world turned a thick white.  The ice storm of 2021 has lead to some chaos around the house.  My life has been in danger daily with the amount of branches falling, the slippery terrain, and the cold temperatures.  Inside the house, it is roughly 69 degrees.  I tell mom to turn up the heat, but she will get out my space heater.  I will lay in front sprawled out like I am on the beach.  I feel the sun and hear the waves as I bask in 85 degree tropical space heater.  If you get the opportunity, go on vacation and leave the tundra.  Don't forget to write to me and send pictures.

Today's Weather Report:  Starting tonight, we will get more white flakes.  They are calling for a chin accumulation (snow that comes to my chin).  It will be a wintery mix with more slippery spots to form over night.  Watch your people, they are likely to hit one of those spots and put on a short show.  Hopefully, no injuries, but just incase make sure to land those kisses right on the face.  Don't forget to remind your person to shovel paths so you can at least make it outside to turn around and come back inside.  Stay safe and warm!

Chlo Knows: How to fight the winter rut

Now that the holidays are over and everyone is back at it, there is not a lot going on.  The coronavirus is still keeping people at home.  So today we should talk about how to fight the winter rut.  Now, I love a good lazy day with my mom and I on the couch, but I also love a good adventure.  The big question today is how to entertain yourself when nothing is going on.  Here are the top 10 things I like to do on a relaxing weekend:

1)  Try new food. This week's delicious menu items were French style green beans, and no salt added corn. I have never had French style green beans, but there was a lot less chewing involved.  The texture reminded me of a worm, but not quite as delicious as a worm.

2)  Chase the tale.  I have caught it a few times, but when it is fluffy, I just have to.

3)  Pounce it out.  Mom has been working it out, and I have been pouncing on her as my workout.  Basically, we are both moving and getting into shape.

4)  Pester Charlie.  Lately, I stop in front of the food bowl and just look at him.  He growls, because he doesn't like the game called keep away.

5)  Destroy the red dog.  One of my favorites.  I parade the dog and my killing skills in front of all.

6)  Play hide and seek with mom.  I go and hide under things and my mom can't find me.

7)  Neighborhood watch.  My neighborhood has never been safer with my eyes on patrol.

8)  Take a bath.  It may sound horrendous, but once you are in and you start swimming it can feel good.  Then you can be a complete nut ball when you get out of the bath.

9)  Plan out future adventures.  Thinking of places to take my mom this summer!

10)  Stare at my mom and think about how much fun we are going to have today.

So I challenge you to beat the winter rut.  Come up with 5 new activities to try this month!  I'll keep yo posted on what we are up to!

New Year, New Me or so they say

People are strange creatures.  My mom has made some New Year's Resolutions.  She thinks it will make her a better person when I think she is the best person right now!  She really needs to learn to love herself a little more like I love her.  I promise I don't participate in New Year's Resolutions, because I am perfect.  She told me all about them, and I can tell you exactly how I feel about each one.

Resolution Number 1:  Be a healthier person by drinking more water, 365 days of movement, and tracking what you eat.

My thoughts on this resolution is mostly positive.  I like the idea of drinking more water and taking walks every day.  I even track everything mom eats anyways and she does a good job doing that.  I just wish she tracked some of her food right into my mouth, but trust me when I say I keep an eye on her food.  The only negative I have on 365 days of movement is that I get in trouble sometimes when I try to help. Mom does these exercises and I encourage her by kissing her, showing her how to do it, or physically helping her by pouncing on her into position.   There has also been an injury.  Mom was doing one of her quick movement moves and kicked me in the face.  I was stunned, but accidents happen when she is so tall and I am so small.  She did stop everything to ensure my health was intact.  She needs to watch out for those kicks.

Resolution Number 2:  Be more social.

My thoughts are that she is social enough unless she wants to be more social with me.  She has invited people over and I did my growls to protect her.  No one should be hugging my mom including Christian, Uncle Steve, and Gpa.

Resolution Number 3- Do not worry about things.

My thoughts are that she should not worry unless it is about spending more time with me and making sure I have enough food, water, and treats.

Resolution Number 4-  Keep house more organized and tidy.

My thoughts are that I have a nice home.  She runs the vacuum way to much, washes clothes too often, and runs the dishwasher more than necessary.  All of these machines makes so much noise that I have to attack.

So I guess I have been inspired.  My New's Year Resolution must be:  Spend more time with my mom!

Whoever you are, whatever you are doing love yourself just like the type of love a dog has for their person.

Winter Break Pupdate!

So much has happened since my last post!  I am sorry I disappeared, but you have to live in the moment away from electronics.  Winter break started in the best way possible with my mom at home.  Together we wrapped presents, made dog treats, and went on daily walks!  I did try out some new poses for the pictures which mom thought were quite funny.  Mom and I cooked in the kitchen slaving over dog treats for Charlie's 14th birthday.  He loved them and gave lots of kisses.  It was actually kind of embarrassing.  I also got to be Santa's elf and help make some presents for family.  We sat outside at night in the cold and looked at the Christmas star which was quite bright.  It doesn't happen often so mom took picture of that as well.

We then went to spend Christmas with my loves:  Kim, Steve, Maggie, Molly, and Sue.  I got to annoy Hoda, explore new yards, hang out in the garage, and cuddle lots of friends.  I love family.  We stayed there for two long sleeps and a lot of little sleeps.  It was quite a jolly time.  Then my exhausted self found the best yellow pillow ever.  It has become my sleeping domain, but to my surprise as I was getting into the most comfortable position Gma and Gpa came over to open presents.  We watched movies and had the most relaxing Christmas a pupgirl could ask for.

Not everything was so jolly.  Mom decided to leave to see the littles, Hazel and Vera.  I love them so much and was not invited.  The only cool thing about staying home was that another Kara (not my mom) stayed with me.  She was kind enough to keep me company and let me sit on her lap.  Then the ice storm came.  It is no longer fun to go for walks or to even do my business outside!  I am sure a big branch is going to squish me!

I hope everyone had a great holiday!  Be safe.
