Another Scary Story: The Legend of Barnabus Grey

There is a legend about a puppy named Barnabus Grey.  His life started as a wee black tiny pup, but as he grew his ferociousness also grew.  In a sleepy town of Stockton, Missouri, he grew up with his mom and master.  Life was pretty normal for Barnabus Grey until the day he ate some poison.  He was sick for many days while the toxins ran through his body.  Master took very good care of Barnabus Grey nursing him back to health.  However, Barnabus Grey now had two personalities.  His sweet puppy self tricked everyone into snuggling him and loving him, but little did others know the dark crazy side that was his inner most self.  I, Chlo Klepp, saw this side from the moment I met him.  His puppy kisses and his puppy love did not fool me one bit.  I knew deep down inside he was filled with the rage.  Whenever master and mom wasn't looking, the rage came flying from across the yard to attack.  I ran to tell my mom about Barnabus, but she told me he just likes my new haircut, but look closely at his eyes.  Pure evil. I will have to sleep with one eye open to catch the Barnabus Grey before he attacks.

Introduction to the Dog Pile

Typical Sunday

Perfect Pile
I am not sure if this is normal in other families, but sometimes we have dog piles.  You know piles of dogs.  It usually happens on a Sunday afternoon after everyone has eaten and it appears to be naptime.  They all pile on top of each other. Charlie and I don't always participate unless it is a mom pile, but today it was a good day to be in the dog pile.  We are also adding a new dog to the dog pile.  I did a facetime with my cousins this weekend, and it appears that we have a new dog.  His name is Flash and he is little like me, so I will have to warn him about being squished.  I bet he would like to be in a dog pile.  I think he is experiencing his own dog pile at his house. I can't wait to meet him!

Rules to a dog pile:

Dog Pile Tutorial

1)  No Growling

2) No using the bathroom

3)  Stop the squish when asked

4)  Don't step on people's faces

5)  Don't do too many licks

6)  Listen to mom

Welcome Flash

I need advice on Puppy Love: I don't want to be a heart breaker

This week I have been observing Barnabus.  The most puppy of them all.  He is funny, goofy, and has a lot of energy which are all very entertaining, but he also occasionally comes in for the kiss. I think he has a crush on me, and I am not always sure what to do.  I like Barnabus, but I am afraid he more than likes me, he loves me.  I think it is what they call puppy love.  I want to be his friend, but when he gets too close, little growls come out of my mouth.  I promise it slips out and I can't help it.   Then he has to run to tell his Master that I was being mean.  I don't mean to hurt his feelings, but I just don't feel the same way.   I really am a good little dog.  I know, because my mom tells me all the time.  I used to have puppy love feelings towards Charlie, but they too passed.  Now, I just have love for my mom, but it is a different kind of love.  Someday, he will grow up and meet someone special.  Until then, I need advice on how to get through these next few days.  Do I tell him?  Do I move on to the next room when he is around?  HELP!!!

Yours truly,

The Green-eyed Monster named Chlo

I love having visitors, but they just aren't leaving.  I thought they would have gone home by now.  I mean Christian can stay, but the others have been eating my food, stealing my toys, and worst of all sitting on my mom's lap.  How dare they give her kisses!  I can share a lot of things, but not so much my mom.  Then my mom called me a monster!  To be particular, a green-eyed monster, so I had to look in the mirror and I was totally my beautiful self.  So I asked her what a green-eyed monster was thinking it was a cool Halloween game we would be playing later, but she explained to me a word called jealousy.  She said it isn't a good thing to have, and I have to work on being a nicer Chlo.  I have to learn how to share and not get angry with other dogs.  I had a lot to think about so  I slept on it.  When I woke up, I decided I didn't want to be this green-eyed monster, and I would let the little Barnabus sit by my mom.  I am still working on being happy about it.  PS- My mom needs to give me a hair cut!

Sherlock Chlo: The case of the missing tail

I like a good mystery and have read quite a few famous authors.  Sherlock Holmes is a favorite, so I have coined myself Sherlock Chlo when I am solving mysteries.  This month a strange thing happened.  A stranger came into the house.  I was very worried at first.  This stranger looked like my mom, smelled like my mom, and sounded like my mom, but she was missing her tail.  How can that happen!?!?  So I decided it was my job to find it.  I looked under the couch, under the bed, out in the yard, and even in the bathtub, but it was nowhere to be found.  How can I save mom's tail?  I would not give up (dachshunds are very stubborn and I just love my mom that much).  At last, Sherlock Chlo found mom's tail on the counter.  Who did this atrocity?  I would like to attack or at least put them in the cage. But more importantly, how do we reattach and make my mom whole again.  She tried comforting me and said Sherlock Chlo, I am giving it away to someone who needs it.  But doesn't my mom need it?  How strange!  I hope she leaves my tail right where it belongs!

The storytelling Chlo

My dream came true and mom didn't leave this weekend.  She didn't go anywhere which for me was fine, but for her it was a little disappointing.  So I decided to tell her a Halloween story.  It goes like this.  Once upon a time, there was a girl and a dog (me and mom) and they live in a house .  Mom was doing her magical cooking routine.  The smells were amazing and like usual Charlie and I were in the kitchen helping her along.  It was a dark and stormy night and the stew was almost done, but mom did a terrible thing.  She decided she didn't want to share.  So, when she wasn't looking, I threw in a few extra ingredients to brainwash her into giving me more treats.  Well, I added the wrong ingredients and she thought that I was the treat.  She was trying to eat me!  I got very scared, but held still like a statue.  Nothing can make me leave my mom's lap.  Right when my life as I know it was about to change, the doorbell rang bringing mom out of her zombie trance saving my life and her soul!  The moral of the story is don't mess with people's food.

All my bags are packed, wait I don't get to go!

The most awful thing happened today.  My mom packed her bags for an adventure, and I was very excited.  I started singing the song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and made a list of things I needed to take.  The list included my mom, a blanket, my mom, some dog treats, my mom, water, my mom, dog food, my mom, and a leash.  I try to travel very lightly so I left Charlie and my seizure medication off the list.  I just got done packing, when MY MOM said that gma and gpa were coming to stay.  I love a good visit from the grandparents, but I was hoping they were there to stay with Charlie.  And then it hits me, she is not taking me!  I made my best attempt to get into her bag to go along for the ride, but she caught me.  Even my sad eyes didn't work.  So, I guess I will have to make the most of hanging out with gpa and gma.  Until my mom comes back, I will be patiently or impatiently look out the window with Charlie.

The countdown- 10 sleeps or should it be 35?

Hey everyone!  I am super excited to announce, my best friends, Dalek and Barnabus, are coming to visit.  Barnabus is a young pup that is still learning new tricks.  I can't wait to teach him all of my favorites like chase the tale, look cute for a treat, and work your way on to your human's lap.  I am really fabulous at that last one!  Dalek is his mother.  She is very sweet until you misbehave and then she goes in for the attack.  I have to keep one eye on her or be on my best behavior.  It must be the mother in her.  I am still trying to figure that one out.  My mom counts down by the number of sleeps.  She said that it is 10 sleeps until Christian comes, but I am very confused.  I take many sleeps a day.  Are they coming tomorrow?  Mom hasn't done the whole cleaning thing yet, so I am guessing that I have at least 35 sleeps until they come.  I might be underestimating.  Until then, I will be dreaming of the fun adventures that we will be having.... and then it will be only 34 sleeps!

Dreaming in Milwaukee

My weekend in Milwaukee has made a few things a lot clearer. I know I love two little girls and that they love me too!  The snuggles from the family are amazing!  Visits are definitely entertaining.  The girls are loud, silly, and energetic.  The girls also do two of my favorite things!  They take me on walks and give me treats!  I really do love them so much.  I dream about being a little girl when I grow up.  They get snacks, play time, nap time, and lap time.  I could still call my mom, MOM!  They sing, dance and have lots of toys. They really have a good life!  But for now I will continue to be a dog, dreaming of the tastiest snacks, the most exhilarating rabbit hunts, snow days, and my next adventure.   PS. Old grumpy grandpa Charlie also loves Milwaukee.  He just moves so fast the pictures are a blur.
